RE: The Economy & Bail Out Options

You gotta read this "10 Myths About Financial Derivatives"....
http://www.cato.org/pubs/pas/pa-283.html
I think this guy better go back to school, I am not qualified to say but I think he was wrong on all 10 counts...too funny! How does the saying go, "an expert is someone who will eventually be proven wrong"!

RE: Erratic Furnace.

Oil in the gas line to furnace could cause problems when cold but not when warm as oil would congeal when colder. Just a thought!

RE: Mexican Insurance

Being a multi year member of Vagabundos Del Mar, I find this very hard to believe. The club has been in existence way to long to let something like this happen, so I figure there must be more to it than you are admitting.
But, did you ever have a claim? All insurance companies are happy to accept premiums, a claim is when you learn how well you are covered. IMHO

RE: A knocking while driving ....

I had a low speed thump for a few years before I realized what it it was, it sounded like end play in a front wheel. It turned out to be a 18" support bracket from the frame to the lower fender skirt that looked to be fastened to the skirt but wasn't. With the vehicle moving the skirt was banging against the bracket and the noise was amplified by the fiberglass fender skirt.

RE: I'm weaning myself from coffee......

I too have recently given up on caffeine, must be getting too old, my system can no longer handle the stuff. Maybe I should go see a doctor for a prescription? Just kidding! That will be the next best seller, a drug to make our system tolerate caffeine.

RE: Electrical question

If you are using one of the 15A/30A "Hockey Puck" adaptors then it could be the 30A 1/4" Female Ground hole is too large in diameter for the 1/4" male ground pin. If this is the case the source of voltage is via capacitive coupling through the transformer of the converter raising the ungrounded frame/chassis. The leakage current is typically not enough to trip a GFI but this can vary with the level of charge in the battery etc....

RE: Ford + Holiday Rambler = Heater Core??

I had to replace my Acme Air heater core on our 99 F53 V10 3 times before Acme Air beefed it up enough to with stand the operating pressure. The operating pressure exceeds the radiator cap pressure as the heater core gets the pressure from the water pump. In the 99 F53 V10 Ford beefed up the water pump pressure as compared to pre 99 F53s. Result, the Acme Air cores couldn't take it any more, the early versions puffed up like a balloon. Make sure you replace it with the version from Acme Air that has the copper pipes and not the flat aluminium channels.
You change the core in the Acme Air system from the front end AND NOT from inside the coach. It is a clam shell help together by 4 mounting screws and a bunch of clamps. Taking things apart inside the coach will NOT get you any where, been there, done that! You do not need to disrupt the pressurized AC system in the process, even though it may look like it at first glance.
There are two versions of Acme Air Heater Cores, one has the inlet/oulet pipes pointing forward, and another with the pipes pointing out the side toward the drivers side. Watch that they send you the right version in the first place.

RE: 1999 Ford f-53 Motorhome - Turn indicator

This is common with the 99 F53, it is because the grease they used internally has dried up and interferes with contacts. The good news is the switch is easy to remove, you do not need to disturb the steering wheel or air bag. I replaced my switch with a new one but if I knew what I know now I would have carefully opened it up and cleaned the grease up.

RE: dash heater and ac on 2005 (2004) Ford F-53 chassis

If it is a vacuum system failure then all air is directed to the front window for defogging. The temperature control sends an electrical signal to a servo that positions a air flow flapper valve any where between full hot to full cold. The heat exchanger and the A/C cooling exchanger are in series with the fan air flow.

Here is another one about Apple Cider Vinegar, again, from personal experience. Next time you think you need a "Tums" for an upset stomach, try a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar! That should make a few eyes roll....:)

RE: OJ found guilty

It seems the legal system can put away anybody that cannot afford a lawyer (and is assigned legal aid) but has problems proving a case that can afford a lawyer. It like, "how much justice can one afford?"

RE: Gout

Google "Gout and Apple Cider Vinegar" for lots of info.
Gout and Apple Cider Vinegar will tell you that the acid in ACV actually turns the blood to more alkaline.
Edit: I am speaking from experience, I have an arthritic knee that responds overnight to a shot of ACV. I do not have Gout, but Gout is a form of arthritis.

RE: Furnace ID Suburban

Make sure you are getting enough 12VDC power level AND there is actually gas to the furnace. Do not assume because all other gas appliances are OK that gas is getting to the furnace. Ie, the copper feed line to the furnace could be blocked with oil if it (the copper line) happens to be lowest point in propane supply system.

RE: Interesting development - Shortage of used Class "A"s??

Wishful thinking....those who can afford to own and operate a Class A will not want to settle for a used unit, they will want a brand new unit. The average baby boomer will settle for a park model at 1/2 to 1/3 the cost and drive Toyotas and Hondas to get to the unit. IMHO
the last I priced out park models, they certainly were more than 1/2 the cost of a used motorhome.
bumpy
For example:
We bought a new 2008 Laurel Creek Model LC275 last year for $35,000.00 plus A/C, Awning, Skirting and taxes totaling $42,500. Todays NADA report lists same at $29,350.00 for Average Retail.
On NADA today, a 2008 Winnebago Gasser Model M-35A-FORD shows a High Retail of $140,000.00. Did I pick a bad example, meaning is the Winnebago a high end unit, if so, please give me an example. Thks.

RE: Could it be dirty solar panels?

To properly estimate the solar panel output you must read Volts x Amps = Watts, not just volts.
